Andrea C. VALENTE, Resilience and Well-Being Among International Students During Acculturation Process: Blogging Without Borders

Abstract: This article explores eight personal blog narratives by Erasmus students who post about their cross-cultural experiences while studying in a foreign country. The study defends that international students can develop coping mechanisms and resilience when facing acculturative stressors during adaptation process in a host country. Thus, it analyzes students’ narratives to verify how they can cope with cross-cultural stressors in their everyday through discursive and non-discursive strategies. This study relies on an integrated view of discourse analysis inspired by concepts from Complex Adaptive System and ecology of composition.
