Maria-Luiza DUMITRU OANCEA, Mentalities of the Ancient Jews and the Metaphorical Register of The Song of Songs

Abstract: We propose to analyze the metaphorical register of The Song of Songs as we believe that it might ease the understanding of a pattern of thought typical of the Semitic and Egyptian world which, although a Mediteranean one, is very different from the European one (i.e. the mental pattern of the Greek world).

Key words: song, stylistics, metaphor, synesthesia, Mediteranean, Jews, imaginary
